The Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly is conducting its first-ever 24-hour marathon debate on the ‘Vision Document 2047’, with ministers presenting strategies for economic growth, social justice, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure expansion.

The historic session, which began on Wednesday, aims to lay out a roadmap for making Uttar Pradesh the most developed state in India by 2047 — targeting zero poverty, world-class infrastructure, and advanced technological integration. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is present for the proceedings.

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya described the discussion as a step toward “Viksit Bharat ka Viksit Uttar Pradesh,” pledging to work continuously towards the 2047 development goals. Cabinet Minister Dayashankar Singh said each department is reviewing achievements from 2017 to 2025 and outlining strategies up to 2047, with the goal of making India a global leader and the world’s leading economy.

Fisheries Minister Sanjay Kumar Nishad called the debate a “historic moment” for the state, noting that, unlike in the past, the focus is now on public interest rather than political gains.

The Opposition, however, criticised the move. Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Tej Pratap Singh Yadav accused the government of avoiding accountability by focusing on a distant vision instead of answering questions about its 2022 manifesto promises. SP’s Dharmendra Yadav also questioned the Assembly’s overall productivity, alleging poor governance, misuse of bulldozer actions, and deteriorating law and order.

Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak hailed the event as “a historic day,” saying that all ministers, MLAs, and party workers would present their vision to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Viksit Bharat’ mission by 2047.
